Sunshine in my pocket

Lots of Color For Your Day

April 18, 2020 Paper Crafting

Hello! Today I am sharing a project for AECP inspired by the class called “Color Your Day” taught by Therese Calvird.

I was really inspired by day 5, where Therese talked about all the ways your coloring can look different…depending upon what medium you used, what ink you used, or what embossing you used. So I thought I’d give it a try!

I inked up one of my favorite flowers from the Wonderland Stamp set in a variety of ink & embossing powders. One in clear embossing powder, one in white, and one in black embossing…then I watercolored them with Zigs. Then I also inked one with Amalgam ink to color with Copics. Can you guess which one is which?

A color study…

This was an interesting color study, as different mediums and different inks really make a difference in the way the cards look.

Copic markers and Obsidian Amalgam Ink
Watercolored cards with Clear embossing, white embossing, and black embossing

I do think they have a different feeling, and I chose similar colors and coloring techniques to make them as similar as I could.

I used the same sentiments on all of them also, using some greys and black inks. (I thought the lighter cards needed a softer color sentiment, so I used gray ink).

I used a light blue color around each of the flowers to make it stand out more. I love the differences in these, and it was quite a fun study of color/mediums for cards.

I hope you enjoyed these projects today! Give it a try to see how your cards have a different feel with different mediums & embossing powders. It’s a fun exercise!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Spread Joy, Not Germs Hop

April 17, 2020 Paper Crafting

Hello! Today I’m excited to be a part of the Spread Joy, Not Germs Hop. There are lots of prizes, so be sure to enter (see details below). I am using stamps from the Hedgehog Hollow April 2020 Kit and March 2020 Kit.

When I was creating this card, I was inspired by the events going on today. I created a dark gray city with bright, happy people. See, even with this big challenge, we can be happy and stick together. 🙂

I first stamped the people images with copic-friendly ink. Then I masked them off with masking paper before inking on the gray buildings using a stencil and Distress Oxide ink.

I colored the images in bright colors so they really stood out from the background. The large “always” sentiment is from the March 2020 Hedgehog Hollow Kit (lettered by Jessica Francisco). I white heat embossed it on black paper then fussy cut around the sentiment.

I stamped the “you” and “me” with black ink, then made a blue mat around them with the same blue Copic marker as on the sweater.

For the video tutorial on how this card came together, watch the video below or in HD on YouTube:

If you are interested in the colors I used, here is my Copic Color Chart:

Hoppy Poppy in the Flower Fields

April 15, 2020 Paper Crafting

Hello! Today I have such a happy card to share with you using one of my all-time favorite bunny stamps. I am pairing it with some giant flowers made of red rubber to create the giant Flower Fields card.

The flower stamps are unmounted red rubber, so in this video I show you a couple options for using these types of stamps. And I actually figure out a way to make it work with the Misti stamp platform. Watch it below or on YouTube:

I used Copic Markers to color up these images and I will have the colors listed below.

Greens: YG05, YG13, YG17
Yellows: Y00, Y08, Y17
Oranges: YR15, Y35
Purples: B63, BV04, BV01
Grays: C0, C1, C3
Pinks: (ears) R30
Pinks: (flower) RV19, RV17, RV55, RV02, RV52
Blues: B00, B000, B0000
Browns: E79, E57, E35

Hello!

I hope this card made you smile today. I know this bunny always makes me smile…and a bunny in a giant flower field is especially happy!

A Very Happy Easter!

April 12, 2020 Easter, Holidays, Paper Crafting

Happy Easter, friends! Today I have a cute Easter card to share featuring more cute bunnies. These are from Heffy Doodle and they are some of my favorites!

Happy Easter!

This time, the bunnies are hiding eggs AND carrots! Don’t they look like they are having fun!?

I colored them up with Copic markers and used the same yellow plaid paper for the background and the die cut sentiment (also from Heffy Doodle).

Every year, I think I can make a bunch of cards using all my favorite bunny stamps. It’s a great thought, but might literally be impossible. I’ll probably keep on trying until I finally accomplish it. Lol.

I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend. See you next time!

Happy Spring Jelly Bean!

April 12, 2020 Easter, Holidays, Paper Crafting

Hello and Happy Spring! Does it feel like spring where you are? Here we’re getting some beautiful blooms in the desert. Spring is coming! I have a fun springy card for you today, with the cutest happy bunny from Paper Smooches.

Loves Carrots, Loves Jelly Beans

Isn’t this bunny the sweetest! He loves carrots, and jelly beans! I used some fun pastel colors with turquoise and I love this color combo.

It leads me to the question: what’s your favorite jelly bean flavor: lemon, lime, or blue raspberry!?

So happy!

The jelly bean in this set is super sweet, and I had a great time building up the pile of jelly beans, with an Easter Egg on top!

I’m entering this into the Pastel color Challenge over at Paper Smooches.

I hope you had a great Easter! Happy Spring!

May your days be filled with sunshine,
