Sunshine in my pocket

Perfect Pearls Background (Sparkle & Shine: Day 4)

May 17, 2017 Paper Crafting

Confession: This is the first time I have ever used Perfect Pearls. I got a couple colors to try out just for this Online Card Class, Sparkle & Shine.

I used a stencil to cover the paper, then added VersaMark ink. Then I applied Perfect Pearls with a paintbrush. Wow! The background turned out so pearlized and shiny.

The butterfly (from Waffle Flower’s new Summer Release) is such a fun one…each part is separate so you can stamp with different colors of ink. So I used three different colors of distress ink, and spread the color using a water brush. Then I stamped over the entire image with VersaMark, added sticky embossing powder, and then glitter. Wow again! This glitter tile over the top of an image was from another technique taught by Julie Ebersole.

So much fun. I’m looking forward to re-visiting these techniques again and again.

Adding Liquid Sunshine/Rain (Sparkle & Shine: Day 3)

May 16, 2017 Paper Crafting

In Day 3 Online Card Classes: Sparkle & Shine, we learned more about liquid applications. One of the classes taught us about making rain and raindrops on our project. I was intrigued by adding colored pencil to the raindrop, then adding glossy accents to the rain. I tried that technique on my project here:

I colored in the bottom of each raindrop with a bright blue colored pencil, and added some gray too. Then I topped them all off with glossy accents. It is dimensional and glossy in real life, and looks like great rain!

I’m looking forward to finding some Pico Embellisher to making long raindrops on a card…that will be my next challenge.

Another great day of classes! Thank you, Jennifer & Kristina!

Adding Foil to a Sentiment (Sparkle & Shine: Day 2)

May 16, 2017 Paper Crafting

I love the idea of adding foil to my cards! So when I saw that Day 2 was all about foiling I was very excited! But then I found that, while I had a lot of foil in my collection, I didn’t have a lot of WAYS to add my foil to my projects. But I did have Scor-Tape and that will work for now.

Here’s my card, where I added foil to my sentiment and to some of the polka dots.

I used sparkle embossing powder on the stamps…it’s a fun look in real life, but tough to photograph! The stamps and dies are from Essentials by Ellen Hutson. I hope you enjoy.

Adding shadows to Glitter Paper (Sparkle & Shine: Day 1)

May 15, 2017 Paper Crafting

Another technique from the Online Card Class, Sparkle & Shine is to add color to pre-made glitter paper. I tried adding a gray shadow to silver glitter paper. I thought it looked really pretty, but so subtle in real life. So I kept adding more & more gray. In this picture it looks a lot more noticeable than it does in real life. But I still love the way it turned out!

I used distress inks to make a simple background for this beautiful Magical Flower Die (from Waffle Flower). Another sentiment for the way I feel about this new technique! Lol.

Homemade Glitter Paper (Sparkle & Shine: Day 1)

May 14, 2017 Uncategorized

I just cannot miss an Online Card Class, and this Sparkle & Shine class was no exception! I love adding a little sparkle to my cards and I was excited to learn some additional ways to make my projects shine!

On Day 1, we learned quite a bit about glitter. Well, I don’t like glitter (but I DO like glitter paper!) because it gets all over the place. And I still don’t have Swiffer cloths in my craft room. BUT, I jumped right in and made my own glitter paper using clear Distress Glitter, then colored it with alcohol markers.

Here’s my card:

It was so fun, but glitter got EVERYWHERE! And I got some glitter on my markers (I hope it doesn’t hurt them). This Waffle Flower die “Magical Flower Border” was the perfect choice for my project. I added a sentiment to describe the way I felt about this colored glitter paper. You can’t tell in this picture, but that sentiment is actually bronze glitter…I thought it looked great with the colored glitter paper.

I’m loving this class so far! Thanks for all the fun!

There’s tons more to learn and try from just day 1, and you can bet I’ll go back and try a few more techniques. 🙂
