Spectacular Shakers (MFT Camp Create Day 3)

June 17, 2017 Paper Crafting

Shaker cards are fun to make and fun to get (don’t you think?) So for today’s MFT Camp Create we got to make one! It took me some time to figure out what my images would be for this shaker, but I came across this cute set that reminded me of 4th of July. I cut the windows for this shaker using a craft knife, just following some simple pencil lines I drew. I think it turned out cute! What do you think?

I colored the images with Copic markers and inked up the card panel with Distress Ink in Festive Berries & Abandoned coral. Happy (early) 4th of July!

Remarkable Resist (MFT Camp Create Day 2)

June 16, 2017 Paper Crafting

I had a fun day at camp working on a Heat Embossed resist background. I used an older MFT stamp set for this one, but its still one of my favorites. Then I took the large scale background stamp (the circles) and heat embossed them on the balloons and the “floor” of this card. I used Distress Oxide inks to ink up over the heat embossing. I have a full review of Distress Oxide inks coming soon!

Here’s my card:

I’ve always wanted a yellow party dress! Lol. So this lucky girl got to have one. I was going to have her hold the bouquet of balloons, but this little bunny hopped on in and did the job. 🙂

Hope you enjoy!

Wonderful Watercolor (MFT Camp Create Day 1)

June 15, 2017 Uncategorized

Today I’m playing along with MFT Camp Create. I’ve never fully tried watercolor on this flower stamp set and today was the day to give it a try! I usually try to stay in the lines and control where the color goes, but for this card I let the color go where it may.

And go where it may, it did! It’s fun for a change to allow the chaos of a messy watercolor look. I added some black splatters to add to the fun, loose feeling. A black gingham bow and black striped paper finishes the look.

Nuvo Mousse Sea (Sparkle & Shine: Day 5)

May 18, 2017 Paper Crafting

I couldn’t resist this Seagull stamp set from MFT Stamps. So I thought it would be the perfect time to try them out with a Nuvo Mousse sea made with a stencil!

I learned about Nuvo Mousse and how to use it from Online Card Classes: Sparkle & Shine. I had already purchased some in Sea Foam green and was waiting for just the right time to use it. Enter Day 5: Paste & Mousse.

Here is my card. The Nuvo Mousse has a little shiny sheen to it when you hold it in the right light. And look closely, because I added a little “glitter foam” to the top of the waves for even more sparkle! (Can you ever have too much sparkle?) I did this using a VersaMark Pen, then sticky embossing powder, then distress glitter in Clear Rock Candy. Can you believe I have never used sticky embossing powder before this class? It’s a tragedy! I love this stuff!

I love Seagulls. They are great for coloring…so easy! I just added a little gray and some yellow/orange for the beaks. The sentiment makes me smile, too. I imagine the seagulls fighting over the fish…saying “mine, mine, mine, mine!” Lol.

I wish you could see the shimmer better. But real life is always more glittery, I guess. 🙂

Glitter Paste Background (Sparkle & Shine: Day 5)

May 17, 2017 Paper Crafting

Kristina Werner inspired me in her class on Glitter paste in the Online Card Classes: Sparkle & Shine. I loved how she made the transition in colors of glitter pastes. So I thought I’d give it a try.

Lucky for me, I already had 3 colors of glitter paste by Bo Bunny. Here’s the background I came up with using a stencil:

Since it was just Mother’s Day, I thought I’d make it into a card for Mom. I like how the transition of color turned out. This card is sure sparkly in real life! That glitter paste is something special. The flower die is from Penny Black, the letters are from Lawn Fawn, and the sentiment is from Hero Arts.

I’m really enjoying this class and I wish it could go on longer! Hope you enjoy my card.
