Sunshine in my pocket

Stretch your Dies (day 7) — Alphabet Dies

March 23, 2015 Paper Crafting

Jennifer McGuire showed us a great trick for getting alphabet dies all lined up. I was so happy…and I had to give this one a try right away.

This one is a birthday card for my sister-in-law (she better not see this until after Wednesday!) I thought this one would make her smile.

A little Lawn Fawn alphabet, a Little Paper Smooches bird, a Neat & Tangled embossed sentiment, add some gems….and you get a fun, happy card! And do those letters look well lined up, or what?! (I used a T-ruler and some post-it tape to get them just right) Thanks for a great class today, Jennifer!

Stretch your Dies (day 6) — Inlaid Background using border die

March 23, 2015 Paper Crafting

I’m loving this Online Card Class: Stretch your Dies. I don’t have a lot of dies, so this is right up my alley.

Today I was impressed with Debby Hughes’ technique of using a border die to make an inlaid background. I used a new die from My Favorite Things to do this. This was a fun one!

That “happy” die is from Studio Calico…isn’t is a great font?! I was going to use some sequins on this, but my Liquid Pearls jumped right out at me for this one. I think it’s a happy card.

Stretch Your Dies (day 4) — Patterned Paper die cutting

March 23, 2015 Paper Crafting, Uncategorized

So I’m going a bit out of order! I am waiting for some packages to come in so I can finish up some homework. While I wait, I thought I’d just go ahead and post some other cards for class.

Today we learned about using a small die cut to enhance patterned paper. Such a great idea! But I have to admit, I was a little nervous about this one. I didn’t want to “mess up” the patterned paper.

I ended up die cutting only 3 little blossoms on this paper to see through to the glitter paper beneath it. What do you think?

I’ll be back to list the supplies I used on this one in a bit!

Heat Shrink Craft Foam

March 22, 2015 Paper Crafting, Uncategorized

I’m taking the Online Card Class: Stretch Your Dies. It is awesome! The first day I was impressed with Jennifer McGuire’s class on shrinking craft foam on your cards.

So for my card, I shrunk the word “hello” in black craft foam…and then dry embossed the original size on the background. It is a subtle change in size…can you tell?

Sorry about the shadows…it’s a bit dark today. If you look closely, you can see the black “hello” is a bit smaller than the embossed “hello” beneath it. I love this technique and had no idea that craft foam could shrink!

I think I’ll try a few more cards with this idea soon. 😉

OCC day 6 — Tri-fold Card

February 5, 2015 Paper Crafting

Julie Ebersole gave a great class at Clean and Simple 4! She made a tri-fold card with a balloon die cut. I wanted to use this idea for my own kind of Valentine card.

This is the front… I HAD to add some donuts (I think my hubby might prefer this one over the kitty card! ha, ha!)

I’ve been playing around with the idea of adding another phrase inside under “I love you” to say: “More than donuts!” Ha, ha! Ok, I did have some fun with this one. It might need something more, but I sure love the idea. I’ll keep experimenting with things to add to this card. Great class!!
